Matthew and Johanna are an engaged duet and sincerely hope that you will join them in celebrating their wedding on June 13, 2026. They will continue to speak about themselves in the third person although it is becoming increasingly peculiar to themselves and likely now also, to you.

Johanna moved to Boston in the summer of 2021, where Matthew was already living. They first became aware of one another on June 13, 2021 by way of a dating app and met at Corey Hill Park in Brookline on a June evening a few weeks later. Johanna brought herself and the willingness to trek 260 feet above sea level (summit avenue) for love — Matthew drove but brought delicious Brown Sugar Cafe takeout and fizzy wine.

The date went well and there were many more — notably an autumn trip to MASS MoCA,  cat-sitting in the Pyrenees, painting their Somerville home in chantilly lace (seven hundred white swatches later), touring New York’s Harbor with the Tahitians, and sandcastle constructions/demolitions with their niece and nephew.

They proposed to each other on January 12, 2025 in the snow at Corey Hill Park and after, drove down the hill to Matthew’s childhood home, where his parents, Len and Linda, were just returning from England (on a murmuration mission), to announce the news. Johanna’s parents, Sky and Mahina, joined via FaceTime from Spain (even twenty years ago, this would read as a sci-fi excerpt).

The best parts of being engaged according to Matthew and Johanna are as follows: knowing, and thus, dreaming in less abstract terms; the joining of their families; an additional parental figure for Buppy and Meemew; and creating a celebration to commemorate the endless love they have for each other and you.
